Summer Activities
Parent Orientation
While new students are getting to know their classmates throughout the summer, parents are invited to attend their own orientation. The first orientation meeting builds off the information shared during Accepted Families Night and is designed to help parents know what they can do to help set their students up for success. This meeting will be followed up by a series of hour-long sessions focusing on specific curriculum topics.
Student Ambassadors
All new students will have the opportunity to connect with a Student Ambassador this summer. Ambassadors are returning students who are thriving at Davidson Academy Online. They are leaders in our community and are passionate about helping others feel welcome. Ambassadors meet with new students over the summer to answer questions and have fun.
Splash
This event will bring high school and middle school students together at Davidson Academy Online for two days of the most amazing student-led learning around! The goal of Splash is to share our love of learning and teaching with a larger community!
Summer Retreat
Davidson Academy Online's Summer Retreat is an action-packed weekend event to give students an opportunity to meet each other and their teachers in person! Students get to experience different activities with their fellow peers and build friendships and bonds before school starts. This event is held at the University of Nevada, Reno the weekend the Davidson Institute's THINK Summer Institute ends.
First Year Seminar
We know that adjusting to online learning can be a lot. We know that trying to do that while diving into a challenging curriculum is even more difficult. In order to help ease the transition, all new students are required to attend First-Year Seminar (FYS). Current Davidson Academy Online students who attended every day of FYS were more successful and invested in Davidson Academy Online throughout the year.
Student Events
Our students are able to enjoy a variety of events during the school year that build community, connections, and promote school spirit.
