Carly has worked in education for thirteen years as a teacher and educational technology trainer. Before making the switch to online education, she spent the first eight years of her career teaching high school language arts at a brick-and-mortar school in suburban Cincinnati, Ohio. Carly has a B.S. in Secondary Education – Language Arts from the University of Cincinnati and is a Google Certified Educator and Microsoft Innovative Educator. Carly has also earned (along with the rest of the English department) a Blackboard Catalyst Award for work on content creation and online instruction. Currently, Carly teaches language arts and history courses at the Davidson Academy Online and Davidson Explore for the Davidson Institute’s Young Scholar program. She also continues to develop online courses and content. Teaching online has allowed Carly to pursue a passion for creating community despite physical barriers, and her classes often focus on building relationships with students in a learning community. Carly lives in Mason, Ohio with her husband, four children, beagle, and tabby cat. When she finds a moment to herself, Carly enjoys reading young adult fiction (especially mysteries), listening to podcasts, and taking her dog for extra long walks.
